Chinese finished leather exports up 18.7%
The export of finished leather from the Chinese leather industry reported a growth of 18.7% in the first half of 2014 at RMB5.7 billion (US$926 million). The total export value for all leather products was RMB42.36 billion (US$6.9 billion), recording a rising of 9.5% compared with corresponding period the previous year.
The sales revenue of finished leather amounted to RMB77.22 billion (US$12.6 billion), up 7.8%, and the total profit grew by 13.4% to RMB4.75 billion (US$773 million). Meanwhile, sales of leather goods saw a growth of 13.6% to RMB142.1 billion (US$23.1 billion), with an 18.8% rise in profits that amounted to RMB8.7 billion (US$1.41 billion).
