Industry news » EU proposal for lower chrome VI limits
According to a report on blecleathertech.com website, the EU has recently launched a public consultation for a proposal to lower the limits for extractable chromium VI under EN71-3 of the Toy Safety Directive.
The Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (SCHER) is of the opinion that the current migration limits for chromium VI from toys should be revised and their recommendation is to reduce the amount of chromium VI in the toy material as much as is technically achievable.

If the proposal is to be approved, the migration limits for chromium VI would be more stringent for all 3 toy material categories, with limits proposed to be lowered by 21-25 fold.
